People forget that the marches and the strikes of he early 20th century bought them the good wages and benefits we enjoy today. Otherwise we'd be as 'used and abused' as poor Third-World sweatshop workers.

Indeed, we have it easy these days. No land to clear, none of the hardships of 150 or 250 years ago. We still have challenges, but life is a lot easier. We run a headhunter directory, which is itself an easier task than, say, breaking the land or building an outhouse. And the very presence of headhunters tells you how the notion of "work" has changed.

Very nice post and picture, Today few people realize the sacrifices and hardships their elders faced to make the current life so simpler and easier.

Labor Day is just to celebrate the existence of powerful people throughout the world, they are the most powerful people around. Labor can boost or ruin any country's economy, they are great people , work hard so that others can can get relief and so on..

Labor Day is just to salute them all who are working hard for their country , their religion , their nation !!

You know, this picture made me a bit sad... such a silent sorrow... I have remembered my grand grand mother who had exactly the same hands - she had been working hard with her hands and they alone could have told more than many people are not able to tell after their entire life... Thank you for this post. You made me remember...
